Crystal Meth worth Rs 8.3 Cr recovered in Bengaluru, three held

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized approximately 8.3 kilograms of a psychotropic substance , suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride (commonly known as Crystal Meth ), valued at around Rs 8.3 crore , in Bengaluru. Three persons have been arrested in connection with the case.

According to a statement issued by the DRI, the seizure was made at the KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru , where officials from the Bengaluru Zonal Unit intercepted a 26-year-old male passenger from Mizoram upon his arrival from New Delhi . Acting on specific intelligence inputs, officers examined his baggage and recovered the contraband concealed inside.

The agency stated that the seized quantity falls under the category of commercial quantity as defined by the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 , indicating the seriousness of the offence and the scale of the operation.

Further investigation led to the identification and interception of two additional accused , both local residents of Bengaluru, aged 25 and 29 years , respectively. With their arrest, the total number of persons held in the case has risen to three.

In a follow-up search conducted at the premises of one of the accused, officials recovered around 200 SIM cards, approximately 45 debit and credit cards, and multiple mobile phones . These items are suspected to have been used to facilitate and operate the drug trafficking network.

The seized narcotics and other incriminating materials have been taken into custody under the provisions of the NDPS Act. Authorities said that further investigation is underway to trace the wider network and identify other individuals involved in the operation.
