The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has recorded a significant milestone by completing 12 consecutive months without any operational fatality among its personnel, marking the first such achievement in 47 years, according to the force chief.

CRPF Director General G P Singh announced the development on Sunday through a post on X, describing it as a particularly significant achievement given the force's continued intensive deployment across major operational theatres in the country.

"12 consecutive months (One Year) have passed without any operational fatality in the force, the last operational fatality in the force being on Oct 30th 2025. This has happened after 47 Years (last such period ended in January 1979)," Singh said in his post.

Officials said nine CRPF personnel were killed during operational duties in 2025 up to October 30, when the last operational fatality was recorded.

The CRPF, with a strength of approximately 3.25 lakh personnel, is the country's largest paramilitary force and plays a crucial role in maintaining internal security. It is extensively deployed across three major operational theatres -- anti-Naxal operations, counter-terrorism duties in Jammu and Kashmir, and counter-insurgency operations in the northeastern states.

The force was established in 1939 during British rule and was initially known by a different name. It was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force in 1949, two years after India's Independence.

According to official data, 2,270 CRPF personnel have laid down their lives in the line of duty since the force's establishment.

The latest achievement comes amid the force's continued engagement in challenging security operations across the country, highlighting a significant period of operational safety for its personnel.
