
CRPF jawan dies in Shopian, Srinagar camp medical probe under way
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan died in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday in a sudden medical emergency that officials suspect was a cardiac arrest , authorities said.
Head Constable Gyan Chand , serving with the 14th Battalion CRPF , suddenly fell unconscious inside the camp at the District Police Lines (DPL), Shopian , during the morning hours, officials added. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital , but doctors declared him dead on arrival .
While early reports indicate that a cardiac event may have been the cause, authorities have launched formal proceedings under Section 194 BNSS to confirm the exact cause of death , and the results of medical examinations are awaited. There has been no indication of foul play, and senior officials offered condolences to his family and colleagues.
The sudden loss has been described by fellow personnel as a tragic reminder of the challenges faced by security forces deployed in demanding environments.
