Crimes against women rise slightly in Rachakonda, severe crimes see significant drop

The Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu has reported that crimes against women in the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate area increased by 4% in 2025 compared to last year. However, the most serious crimes have decreased by 25%.

Kidnapping cases showed a sharp rise, doubling from 233 in 2024 to 479 in 2025. Cases of sexual harassment also increased from 561 to 809, while crimes under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act went up from 392 to 516.

Despite this, major crimes such as rape, murders of women, domestic violence, dowry harassment, and related deaths saw a significant decline. These severe crimes fell from 1,704 cases in 2024 to 1,194 in 2025.

A total of 26,852 crimes were registered this year, and 21,056 of these cases were resolved, resulting in a 78% case closure rate. Police also enforced 4,121 non-bailable warrants, achieving a “zero NBTW” status, highlighting their operational efficiency.

The police have taken strong action against organized crime as well. In drug-related cases, authorities seized narcotics worth over ₹20.01 crore and arrested 495 people. They also disrupted interstate child trafficking and illegal organ trade networks, rescuing 16 children in the process.

Visible policing, rapid response, and monitoring of suspects contributed to a 15% reduction in property-related crimes. Cybercrimes also fell by 19.4%, totaling 3,734 cases. Among the three main police commissionerates in Greater Hyderabad, Rachakonda continues to lead in effective law enforcement.
