With excitement building for the T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand on March 8, airlines have begun adding special services to help thousands of fans reach Ahmedabad for the much-anticipated clash.

Budget carriers Air India Express and Akasa Air announced on Friday that they will operate additional flights to Ahmedabad , responding to a sharp surge in travel demand as cricket enthusiasts across the country plan to attend the grand finale.

Air India Express said it will run extra services to Ahmedabad from major cities including Delhi , Bengaluru , Mumbai , and Hyderabad . The airline explained that the additional flights were scheduled specifically to accommodate the large number of fans travelling to watch the final in person.

The airline also noted that it is closely tracking booking patterns and could further increase flight capacity if demand continues to rise in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Akasa Air will operate special direct flights between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on March 8 and 9, supplementing its existing services on the route.

The airline said it plans to create a celebratory atmosphere for passengers heading to the match. Its aircraft cabins will feature “SkyLights,” a lighting system that will illuminate the cabin in the colours of the Indian tricolour using the dynamic lighting technology of the Boeing Sky Interior.

Adding to the excitement for fans, Akasa Air also announced that passengers will be able to track live match updates during the flight through its “SkyScore” service, allowing them to stay connected with the action even while in the air.

As cricket fever grips the country ahead of the blockbuster India–New Zealand showdown, the special flights underline the scale of excitement surrounding the final and the rush among fans eager to witness the historic match in person.
