Crackdown on Illegal LPG Storage in Telangana: 3,700 Cylinders Seized
The Telangana Civil Supplies Department has conducted large-scale raids across the state targeting the misuse and illegal storage of LPG cylinders. Officials announced on Friday that around 3,700 domestic gas cylinders have been seized so far during inspections ongoing since March 12 .
In addition to household cylinders, 70 small cylinders were also confiscated. The total value of the seized stock is estimated at ₹1.10 crore . Authorities have registered 216 FIRs across the state in connection with these violations.
Amid concerns over potential disruptions in fuel supply due to tensions in West Asia , Civil Supplies Commissioner M. Stephen Ravindra had earlier warned that strict action would be taken against anyone involved in illegal hoarding or black-market sales of gas cylinders.
The government reiterated that it would adopt a zero-tolerance approach against practices such as unauthorised storage and resale of cylinders. Officials added that inspections will be further intensified to ensure that consumers do not face any inconvenience.
