COVID Is Back? Odisha Reports Two More Cases, Here's What Health Officials Are Saying

Odisha has reported two new COVID-19 cases, taking the state's total number of active infections to three, with all the cases detected in Ganjam district, health officials said on Thursday.

According to Director of Public Health Dr. Rabindranath Mishra, the two newly infected individuals are under home isolation and are in stable condition. Health authorities are closely monitoring their recovery while ensuring that all necessary precautions are being followed.

The state's first confirmed patient, a woman undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College Hospital in Berhampur, also remains clinically stable. However, doctors are exercising additional caution as she has pre-existing health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension and heart-related ailments, which place her in a higher-risk category.

Amid concerns over the fresh infections, health officials urged the public not to panic. Dr. Mishra said that COVID-19 has now largely become an influenza-like illness, adding that the currently circulating virus is significantly less severe than during previous waves.

To review the preparedness of the healthcare system, Health and Family Welfare Department Special Secretary Santosh Mishra visited the MKCG Medical College Hospital on Wednesday and assessed the treatment arrangements for the hospitalized patient.

The state government continues to monitor the situation while advising people to remain cautious, maintain good hygiene, and seek medical attention if they develop flu-like symptoms. Officials reiterated that there is no cause for alarm, but stressed that vigilance remains important to prevent further spread.
