Countdown for BJP's exit has begun, says Kejriwal at Jantar Mantar rally
Forty-eight hours after being discharged by a Delhi court in the excise policy case, Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah , declaring that “the countdown to the BJP’s removal from power has begun.”
Addressing a massive rally at Jantar Mantar , Kejriwal accused the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of conspiring to falsely implicate him in the excise policy case. Calling the trial court verdict “historic,” he said it proved he was “kattar imaandar.” “The 140 crore people of this country will unite to uproot this dictatorial government,” he said, adding, “Modi ji, you can continue to work for power, and I will continue to work for the country.”
He alleged that fear now defines the Prime Minister’s leadership, saying, “When a tyrant is scared, it means his end is near.” He claimed Modi feared scientists, students, women MPs, farmers, and even global leaders, and accused the Centre of suppressing dissent. Kejriwal alleged that during 12 years of BJP rule, roads, healthcare, education, sanitation, employment, and law and order had deteriorated, while thousands of bus marshals, drivers, conductors, and Mohalla Clinic staff were removed from their jobs.
Taking a swipe at the “Viksit Bharat” vision, he said people wanted a “rahne layak Bharat,” with clean air, safe water, quality education, healthcare, and secure employment. He criticised the Prime Minister’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme, urging him to “stop the drama” and prevent repeated exam paper leaks. Turning to Delhi, Kejriwal accused the BJP-led administration of ruining the city within a year, citing broken roads, contaminated water, worsening air pollution, and deteriorating civic services. He also alleged manipulation of voter lists and political conspiracies to retain power.
Recalling his personal journey, Kejriwal said he chose to serve India despite opportunities abroad and said his arrest was meant to intimidate honest citizens. Drawing parallels with the 2011 anti-corruption movement, he said Sunday’s rally marked the beginning of the BJP’s political decline.
The trial court had discharged Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia , and 21 others, criticising the Central Bureau of Investigation for contradictions in its chargesheet. However, the CBI has now moved the Delhi High Court, keeping the legal battle alive.
