With road accidents on the rise, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav has called for stronger coordination between the transport , police , and health departments to improve both prevention and emergency response.

During a high-level review held in the wake of recent incidents, including a fatal accident near Mantralayam, the minister underlined the importance of the “golden hour” and instructed officials to ensure swift medical care for victims.

He also emphasized the need for strict implementation of the PM Raksha Rahat Scheme, which offers cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh. Any additional costs will be borne by the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust. The scheme is currently available in 656 hospitals and is set to be expanded to 1,500 soon.

To encourage public assistance, the government will provide ₹25,000 to Good Samaritans who help accident victims, assuring them protection from any legal inconvenience.

Highlighting alarming figures, the minister said the state records an average of 23 road deaths daily, largely due to overspeeding and human error. He noted that timely medical intervention can significantly cut down fatalities.

In NTR district, families of victims in hit-and-run cases have received compensation of ₹2 lakh each, amounting to ₹2.5 crore in total.

The minister also directed officials to strictly enforce traffic regulations and take firm action against violators to curb accidents.
