Cool prices, Hot deals: ACs & Dishwashers get cheaper

Leading appliance manufacturers have announced a significant reduction in the prices of room air conditioners (ACs) and dishwashers, aligning with the GST Council’s recent cut in tax rates. The revised rates, set to come into effect from Monday, September 22, are expected to make these appliances more affordable for consumers ahead of the festival season, including Navratri, and boost sales across the industry.

Room ACs have seen price reductions of up to Rs 4,700, while dishwashers are now cheaper by as much as Rs 8,000. The price cuts come in the wake of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction on air conditioners and dishwashers from 28 percent to 18 percent earlier this month. Appliance makers such as Voltas, Daikin, Godrej Appliances, Panasonic, and Haier have updated their price lists accordingly, anticipating heightened demand during the festive period.

Some manufacturers and dealers had already begun pre-booking units at discounted prices, anticipating consumer interest ahead of the official GST benefit rollout. The move is expected to generate double-digit growth in sales during the festive season.

Key features of price reductions and offers:

• Room ACs:

• Voltas has reduced its fixed-speed window AC to Rs 39,590 from Rs 42,990 and inverter window AC to Rs 43,290 from Rs 46,990.

• Daikin’s 1-ton 5-star inverter split AC is now priced at Rs 18,890, down from Rs 20,500, while its 1.5-ton 5-star inverter split AC is reduced to Rs 68,020 from Rs 73,800. Daikin’s 1.8-ton 5-star inverter split AC is now Rs 84,980 from Rs 92,200.

• LG Electronics has lowered its 1-ton 3-star inverter split AC to Rs 32,890, a GST benefit of Rs 2,800. Its 1.5-ton inverter AC is reduced to Rs 42,390, and 2-ton split AC to Rs 55,490.

• Haier has cut the Gravity (1.6-ton inverter) AC by Rs 3,905 to Rs 46,085 and the Kinouchi AI (1.5-ton 4-star) AC by Rs 3,202 to Rs 37,788.

• Godrej Appliances has lowered prices of cassette and tower ACs by Rs 8,550 to Rs 12,450 and split AC inverters by Rs 3,200 to Rs 5,900.

• Panasonic India has reduced its 1.5-tonne window AC starting from Rs 42,000 to Rs 46,000, and fixed-speed split AC (1.0 ton) now ranges from Rs 42,400 to Rs 63,900.

• Dishwashers:

• BSH Home Appliances has lowered prices by up to Rs 8,000, with its entry-level model now costing Rs 45,000 from Rs 49,000, and its top-end model at Rs 96,500 from Rs 104,500.

• Voltas Beko, a joint venture between Tata Group and Turkish firm Arçelik, has reduced its entry-level dishwasher to Rs 23,390 from Rs 25,990.

The price reductions are applicable across different categories, including variable refrigerant volume (VRF) ACs for large buildings, light commercial ACs (cassette type split AC), and tower ACs. These measures aim to make high-quality appliances more accessible to urban and semi-urban consumers, while encouraging energy-efficient and modern home solutions.

Industry insiders note that these reductions are likely to attract pent-up consumer demand, strengthen festive-season sales, and improve overall affordability, enabling households to upgrade appliances with enhanced comfort and efficiency.

By offering substantial GST benefits and price reductions, appliance manufacturers are positioning themselves to capture a significant market share during the festive season while promoting the adoption of energy-efficient and technologically advanced appliances.
