Congress Unlikely To Return To Power For Next 20 Years: KTR
BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday criticised the Congress government in Telangana, stating that public anger has been mounting against its two-and-a-half-year rule , and asserted that the party would find it difficult to return to power for the next 20 years. He made these remarks during a review meeting with party leaders and public representatives of the erstwhile Rangareddy district at his residence in Nandi Nagar.
KTR alleged that the Congress government had deceived people with reckless promises and that corruption had increased significantly in the state. “Commissions and monetary greed are visible in every work,” he said, further accusing ministers of being directly involved in land and mining irregularities , particularly in Rangareddy district. He warned that people were closely observing these developments and would soon respond decisively.
KTR also strongly criticised the BJP-led Central government over rising prices, calling its decisions anti-people . He mocked the recent increase in LPG cylinder prices, stating that raising the cost to over ₹1,000 in a single day reflected the government’s inefficiency. He said the continuous rise in petrol, diesel, and gas prices was placing a heavy burden on common citizens and demanded an immediate rollback of the hike. He also urged party cadres to organise protests against the price rise.
Speaking on party organisation, KTR outlined plans for strengthening the party structure , including an upcoming membership drive and formation of committees. He directed leaders to actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to prevent irregularities in the voters’ list. He emphasised the need to ensure that eligible youth are enrolled as voters while preventing bogus registrations. He also cautioned against potential misuse of power to delete votes and said safeguarding voting rights was the responsibility of every leader.
With municipal corporation elections likely to be held soon , KTR asked party leaders to prepare at the grassroots level. He congratulated them on the party’s recent performance in panchayat and municipal elections.
KTR paid tributes to the six residents of Sircilla who died in a tragic road accident near Shamshabad on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) . He visited the Osmania Hospital mortuary, consoled the bereaved families, and assured them of the party’s support. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives from his constituency, calling it a deeply painful incident .
