Congress to kick off Bihar campaign after Chhath; Rahul Gandhi to visit Oct 29-30

The Congress will launch its Bihar election campaign soon after Chhath Puja, with Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi expected in the state on October 29–30, party leaders confirmed. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will also take part in rallies and outreach programs. The party hopes to build on the momentum from its Voter Adhikar Yatra in August.

KC Venugopal, Congress national general secretary, said senior leaders are currently in Bihar to plan strategies and resolve internal tensions, including complaints from workers alleging that tickets were “put up for sale.”

Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot appealed to party workers to stay focused and not voice grievances during the campaign, calling the Bihar polls “watched by the entire nation.” He welcomed the INDIA bloc’s choice of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as their CM candidate, saying the young leader brings energy and determination.

Gehlot also criticized Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, pointing to his frequent political shifts, and accused the BJP of misusing electoral bonds to fund campaigns while opposition parties face strict scrutiny. He called out a recent government scheme that transferred Rs 10,000 to women before elections, saying it appeared aimed at influencing votes.

Meanwhile, the ruling NDA (BJP-JD(U)-allies) is stepping up its own campaign, highlighting welfare schemes and promising development to voters. Party leaders are touring constituencies, holding rallies, and emphasizing schemes like financial aid for women and infrastructure projects, hoping to consolidate their base ahead of the elections.
