Congress Holds Protest Demanding KCR’s Resignation As MLA

The Telangana Congress on Sunday staged a maha dharna at Indira Park in Hyderabad, demanding the resignation of former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) as an MLA, alleging that he had remained absent from the Assembly for nearly 1,000 days.

Congress leaders accused KCR of drawing his legislator’s salary while failing to attend Assembly proceedings or remain accessible to the people as Leader of the Opposition. They argued that the post carried significant democratic responsibilities and that he should step down if he was unwilling to discharge them.

The protest was led by TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud and attended by Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Duddilla Sridhar Babu, government adviser Hanumanth Rao, Congress MLAs, MLCs, party leaders and other public representatives.

Addressing the gathering, Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that KCR had confined himself to his farmhouse and was not fulfilling his responsibilities as Leader of the Opposition. He said the Congress government was implementing its electoral commitments, including Indiramma housing and fine rice distribution, with the objective of providing a house to every homeless family.

Goud claimed the Congress government had created more than 70,000 jobs and attracted ₹1.78 lakh crore in foreign investments in two years. He said the Global Summit had also paved the way for investments worth ₹5 lakh crore and promised that more employment opportunities would be created in the coming years.

He accused the previous BRS government of neglecting Telangana movement figures such as Gaddar and Ande Sri, while highlighting Congress initiatives to honour them. He also cited the unveiling of Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule statues and the caste census undertaken in line with Rahul Gandhi’s vision.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders had on Saturday taken out a rally from Gandhi Bhavan to Gun Park. They raised slogans against KCR and displayed a large poster portraying him as ‘Kumbhakarna’, mocking his prolonged absence from public and legislative activity.
