Congress celebrates 140th Foundation Day with grandeur

The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) marked the 140th Foundation Day of the party with grand celebrations at its state headquarters in Vijayawada on Sunday. APCC Working President S.K. Mastan Wali highlighted the Congress Party’s enduring role in India’s struggle for independence and nation-building, calling its legacy “timeless and unparalleled.”

During the event, Mastan Wali hoisted the party flag and participated in the celebrations alongside senior leaders and a large gathering of party workers. Addressing the audience, he emphasized that the Congress Party was founded on the principles of sacrifice, service, and democratic values.

Mastan Wali criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for distorting history, questioning if any of its leaders had actually participated in the freedom struggle. He challenged the BJP to name even four leaders who played a role in India’s independence movement.

He also reaffirmed the Congress Party’s commitment to working for the empowerment of the poor and marginalized communities. “Equality, secularism, and progress are in the DNA of the Congress Party,” he said, adding that the current central government’s attempts to divide the country on religious lines must be resisted.

Stressing national unity, Mastan Wali stated that the Congress Party will continue to uphold the country’s integrity and counter forces that threaten India’s secular spirit. The event saw participation from senior state leaders and a large number of party workers, with similar celebrations taking place across all districts of Andhra Pradesh.
