Congress, BRS Turning Telangana Land Row Into ‘WWE-Style’ Show: BJP’s Prakash Reddy

The Congress-BRS clash over alleged encroachment of government land and irregularities involving assigned properties has taken a sharper political turn in Telangana. BJP leader Prakash Reddy said the two parties were providing “WWE-style” entertainment to the public, arguing that the government should focus on investigating the allegations and taking action rather than engaging in political confrontation.

Speaking to ANI, Reddy said the Congress had been engaged in political drama for several days, while the BRS was also contributing to what he described as entertainment for the public. Referring to professional wrestling entertainment, he said the two parties were effectively presenting a “scripted” show before the people of Telangana. He questioned why the government, despite being in power, was making political statements and organising protests instead of taking concrete legal action over alleged land irregularities.

Reddy particularly referred to visits by Congress MPs to inspect assigned lands in Erravalli and Janwada. He argued that the Congress, as the ruling party, should focus on governance and take action through the administration rather than behave like an opposition party by staging protests.

The remarks came amid a widening dispute over land allegedly linked to former Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao. According to ANI, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on September 17 directed officials to examine allegations involving 388 acres of government land associated with farmhouse lands linked to the former chief minister.

Congress MP Kiran Kumar Chamala said the Chief Minister had instructed revenue officials and ministers to complete the inquiry within 30 days and establish the ownership and status of the land. He said the government had made it clear that if the probe establishes encroachment of government land, the property would be recovered and distributed among Dalits.

The dispute has also extended to Edulanagulapally, where Congress leader and Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Yadav sought an inquiry into alleged irregularities involving Survey Numbers 134 and 135. Yadav alleged that fake records were created covering around 150 acres, which were subsequently sold to several individuals. He also claimed that actor Jr NTR owns land in the area and demanded an investigation into the allegations.

ANI reported that Revanth Reddy had earlier announced plans for a high-level committee to address land ownership disputes following complaints concerning assigned lands being included in the prohibited 22-A list.

The allegations have intensified the political clash between the Congress government and the BRS over land ownership and alleged irregularities in Telangana.
