Congress Aims Big in Municipal Elections, Focus on Grassroots Strength

State Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy called upon Congress leaders and workers to work collectively with the clear objective of achieving a sweeping victory in the upcoming municipal elections. He made these remarks while attending preparatory meetings for the municipal elections in Illendu and Edulapuram as part of his visit to the undivided Khammam district. MLA Koram Kanakaiah and other public representatives were present, jointly guiding party cadres.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister assured that every party worker who serves the party with dedication will be duly recognised. He clarified that public opinion would be the final authority in the selection of municipal election candidates. Loyalty to the party and a genuine commitment to serving the people would be the key criteria in granting priority. He categorically stated that there is no place for dynastic politics in the Congress and announced that none of his blood relatives would be given tickets.

The Minister noted that elections, counting, and oath-taking ceremonies could be completed by Shivaratri, stressing that time is limited. He urged party workers to intensify grassroots-level efforts from now itself. He also advised leaders to effectively communicate government welfare and development programmes to the public and to focus on ensuring the victory of Congress-backed candidates in every ward.

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy stated that crores of rupees have already been allocated for the development of Edulapuram and Illendu municipalities. He assured that additional substantial funds would be mobilised in the future to transform the towns’ infrastructure and overall outlook. He added that scientific surveys are being conducted for candidate selection, with multiple teams collecting public feedback at the grassroots level, and B-Forms would be issued based strictly on survey reports.

The Minister cautioned aspirants who do not receive tickets against feeling disappointed or shifting allegiance to other parties. He assured that every hardworking party member would be given due opportunities in the future, either through co-option as members or by assigning other responsibilities within the government. Emphasising that party workers are his real strength, he said their hard work is his greatest honour and reaffirmed that he would stand firmly by everyone who places their trust in him.
