Commonwealth Games 2026 Medallists Grace Amitabh Bachchan's 'KBC 18'
Commonwealth Games 2026 medallists Lovlina Borgohain, Asmita Dey, Jhandu Kumar and Sharmila Dhankar recently appeared on the hotseat of Amitabh Bachchan-hosted 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' Season 18, where they spoke about their sporting journeys, challenges and memorable moments from Glasgow.
The appearance came after a strong Commonwealth Games campaign for India, which finished with 23 medals five gold, 12 silver and six bronze at Glasgow 2026. The Games were held from July 23 to August 2 across 11 sports.
Para-athlete Sharmila Dhankar, who won gold in the women's F57 shot put, reflected on the years of training and challenges that often remain away from public attention. Her gold was particularly significant as she became India's first Commonwealth Games gold medallist in para-athletics.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain secured silver in the women's 75kg category, adding a Commonwealth Games medal to her decorated international career. She described sitting opposite Amitabh Bachchan on the KBC hotseat as a different kind of pressure compared with competing inside a boxing ring.
For judoka Asmita Dey, the appearance followed a historic performance in Glasgow. She won gold in the women's 48kg judo event, becoming one of India's standout performers at the Games.
Jhandu Kumar, meanwhile, won India's first medal of the Glasgow Games a bronze in men's heavyweight para powerlifting. His achievement was particularly notable given his journey from financial hardship and a childhood affected by polio to the Commonwealth podium.
The athletes' appearance on KBC offered viewers a glimpse beyond their medal-winning performances, highlighting the discipline, resilience and personal struggles behind their success.
'Kaun Banega Crorepati' Season 18 airs Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.
