Commercial LPG prices up by Rs 15.50, domestic rates unchanged

Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have revised the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, effective Wednesday, October 1, while domestic LPG rates remain unchanged.

The price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 15.50. Following the revision, the retail price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder in Delhi is Rs 1,595.50. The adjustment is part of the regular monthly revision of LPG prices by OMCs and primarily affects restaurants, hotels, and other commercial establishments. Household consumers using domestic cylinders will not see any change in their bills.

Domestic LPG cylinders of 14.2 kg, widely used for household cooking, have retained their existing prices. In Delhi, a cylinder costs Rs 853, while in Chennai, Kolkata, and Mumbai, the prices remain at Rs 868.50, Rs 879, and Rs 852.50, respectively. In Hyderabad, the price is Rs 905. Domestic LPG prices have not changed since April 8, 2025.

In a recent adjustment last month, on September 1, OMCs had reduced the rates of commercial 19 kg cylinders by Rs 51.50, bringing the Delhi retail price to Rs 1,580. This followed a previous price of Rs 1,631.50 in August.

The stability in domestic LPG prices comes amid government support to oil companies. On August 8, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a compensation package of Rs 30,000 crore to be paid in twelve installments to oil marketing companies. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had highlighted that this measure has helped maintain stable LPG prices despite global uncertainties.

The latest revision underscores a continuing effort to manage LPG pricing for households while allowing market-driven adjustments for commercial usage.
