Commercial LPG Prices Hiked by Rs 42, Hotels and Restaurants Brace for Higher Costs

Oil marketing companies on Monday revised upward the prices of commercial LPG cylinders across the country, effective June 1 , with the 19-kg cylinder becoming costlier by Rs 42 in Delhi . The retail rate in Delhi has risen to Rs 3,113.50 , while Kolkata saw a steeper increase of Rs 53.50, taking the price there to Rs 3,255.50 per cylinder. Domestic LPG cylinders, used in household kitchens, have been left untouched, with the 14.2-kg cylinder continuing to cost Rs 913 in Delhi.

The prices of 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders were also revised upward by Rs 11, with the new rate in Delhi standing at Rs 821.50. The revision, carried out by state-owned Oil Marketing Companies including Indian Oil , Bharat Petroleum , and Hindustan Petroleum , is part of the monthly price review mechanism under which commercial LPG rates are adjusted in line with international fuel market trends.

The impact of rising costs is being felt across major cities, with a 19-kg commercial cylinder now priced at Rs 3,024.50 in Mumbai , Rs 3,232 in Chennai , and Rs 3,322 in Patna . Unlike domestic LPG, which continues to be subsidised, commercial LPG is fully market-linked , meaning global price fluctuations are passed directly to end consumers.

The hike arrives amid a broader fuel cost pressure on businesses. CNG prices in Delhi and adjoining regions have also been raised by Rs 2 per kg , reaching Rs 83.09 per kg, with a cumulative increase of Rs 6 per kg since May 15 through four separate revisions. Petrol rates have gone up by Rs 7.35 per litre , and diesel by Rs 7.53 per litre in recent weeks, adding to the burden for businesses dependent on both transportation and commercial cooking fuel.

Impact in Telangana

In Hyderabad , the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder is now priced at Rs 3,294 following the June 1 revision. The city's food and hospitality industry, still recovering from a string of earlier hikes, is bracing for fresh strain. Hotel associations in Hyderabad have warned that the latest revision, which takes rates to record highs , could further hurt an already stressed sector. Small eateries and pushcart vendors, who had raised prices by 20–30 per cent in March after earlier increases, are now facing fresh pressure. The Telangana LPG Distributors Association noted that the revised rates mark the highest-ever prices for non-domestic LPG in India , and advised commercial users to procure cylinders only from authorised distributors. With no relief in sight from domestic prices, the full burden of this hike will be borne by the commercial sector — and, inevitably, by diners and consumers who eat out.
