Collector inspects road for Kondagattu pilgrimage route

Telangana’s prominent pilgrimage site, the Kondagattu Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Mutyampet, Malyal Mandal, is set for a major spiritual and infrastructural upgrade. Following requests from devotees, authorities have begun preparations to develop facilities for a smooth circumambulatory route (giripradakshina) around the hill temple.

District Collector B. Satyaprasad personally visited the site on Monday to inspect the road and assess how devotees can safely complete the giripradakshina.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the development plans for Kondagattu would be modeled on famous pilgrimage sites like Arunachala in Tamil Nadu and Simhachalam in Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized that all necessary arrangements are being carefully planned to ensure a safe and convenient experience for pilgrims.

Officials from the Revenue, Forest, R&B, and Panchayat Raj departments joined the field inspection, reviewing key aspects of the project. The Collector highlighted that the circumambulatory path must be wide - at least 40 feet - to prevent congestion and ensure smooth movement for the large number of devotees visiting the temple.

He instructed officials to provide essential amenities along the route, including drinking water stations, restrooms, seating areas, and shaded rest points. Adequate street lighting is also to be installed for the safety of devotees visiting after dark. For sections passing through forested areas, the Forest Department will ensure all permissions are in place and environmental safeguards are strictly observed.

The Collector confirmed that a detailed project plan, including cost estimates and necessary approvals, will be submitted to the state government. Once completed, the upgraded infrastructure is expected to enhance convenience for lakhs of devotees and support the overall development of the temple surroundings.

The inspection was attended by Additional Collector B. Raj Goud, Forest Department officer Madasu Ravi Prasad, Jagityal Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Madhusudhan, Kondagattu Temple Executive Officer (EO) Sreekanth Rao, and other officials from various departments.
