CogniCHAMP Redefines Intelligence Testing for a New Generation
In an education system long dominated by marks and memorisation, a Hyderabad-based startup is attempting to shift the focus toward how students actually think. cognitivescore.ai has launched the CogniCHAMP India Scholarship – Telangana Edition , a statewide initiative designed to identify and nurture cognitive abilities rather than just academic scores.
At its core, the programme challenges a fundamental question: does a child’s report card truly reflect their intelligence? CogniCHAMP answers this by introducing an alternative assessment model that evaluates students through a gamified, child-friendly platform , removing the stress and rigidity associated with traditional exams. Instead of testing rote learning, it focuses on deeper intellectual capabilities such as Cognitive Quotient (CQ) , higher-order thinking , and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) .
What sets the initiative apart is its emphasis on 21st-century skills , widely recognised as essential in today’s rapidly evolving world. These include the 4Cs - critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills that go beyond textbooks and prepare students for real-life challenges. By assessing these competencies, CogniCHAMP aligns itself with global educational trends that prioritise adaptability and problem-solving over memorisation.
The initiative also reflects the vision of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 , which calls for a transition toward holistic and competency-based learning. Designed for students aged 3 to 18 years , the assessment adapts to different developmental stages, ensuring age-appropriate evaluation. This makes it inclusive, covering early learners as well as senior students preparing for higher education.
Beyond evaluation, the scholarship offers a strong incentive. Selected students can receive up to 100% tuition fee support until Class 12 , capped at ₹1 lakh per year , making quality education more accessible. However, the benefits extend beyond financial aid. The programme provides detailed performance insights , helping parents and schools understand a child’s learning patterns, strengths, and areas for improvement. Such data-driven feedback can play a crucial role in shaping personalised education pathways.
In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and innovation, the ability to think critically and adapt quickly has become more valuable than ever. Initiatives like CogniCHAMP signal a broader transformation in education one that recognises students not just as exam performers, but as thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers.
With registrations open until April 26 , the Telangana edition of CogniCHAMP could mark the beginning of a significant shift in how student potential is measured not by marks alone, but by the power of the mind behind them.
