Coalition Government Gives Priority to Rural Road Development: Sowmya

The Andhra Pradesh coalition government is giving priority to strengthening rural infrastructure, with better road connectivity being treated as a key part of development in villages, Government Whip and Nandigama MLA Tangirala Sowmya said on Sunday.

Sowmya laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of a rural road in Turlapadu village of Chandarlapadu mandal in Krishna district. The project has an estimated cost of Rs 3.84 crore and is being taken up under the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department with funding from the PRR grant.

The road connecting Chandarlapadu and Kanchala villages through Turlapadu will be reconstructed as part of the project. Once completed, the improved road is expected to make daily travel easier for people in the surrounding villages and strengthen connectivity to nearby areas.

The project is also expected to benefit the rural economy. Better roads will help farmers transport their agricultural produce to markets more efficiently while making commuting easier for students, employees and other residents who depend on road connectivity for their daily needs.

Sowmya said the government has been identifying roads that require urgent attention in rural areas and taking up development works in phases since the coalition came to power. She said the objective was to ensure better road connectivity to every village in the Nandigama Assembly constituency.

She added that the government would continue to mobilise funds based on local requirements and speed up infrastructure projects. Development, she said, should be visible on the ground rather than remain limited to announcements.

The MLA reiterated that providing reliable roads and essential infrastructure to rural households would remain a priority, with the government focusing on improving basic amenities and connectivity across the constituency.
