Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday inaugurated his newly renovated MLA office in Perambur and launched a dedicated mobile application that enables residents to submit and track civic grievances digitally.

The visit marked Vijay's first official engagement in his home constituency since the Assembly election. The upgraded MLA office, located in Vyasarpadi's Sharma Nagar First Street, features a dedicated workspace for the Chief Minister, CCTV surveillance, and a 10-member team responsible for handling daily public petitions.

Vijay had contested and won from both Perambur and Tiruchy East in the Assembly polls before choosing to retain Perambur and vacating the Tiruchy East seat.

The office also includes an integrated Common Service Centre (E-Sevai Maiyyam) designed to speed up the processing of public service requests. The newly launched mobile application will allow residents to directly register and monitor complaints related to electricity, drinking water supply, roads, sanitation, and access to government welfare schemes.

As part of his constituency visit, Vijay is also expected to launch the state's new ration card distribution programme. He will inspect a ration shop in MKB Nagar and distribute new ration cards to the first 50 eligible beneficiaries. Essential commodities and land ownership pattas will also be handed over during the event.

The Chief Minister's schedule further includes a visit to an MTC electric vehicle charging station near the Vyasarpadi Metro station and an inspection of commuter facilities at a local MTC bus depot.

Coinciding with the visit, the Greater Chennai Corporation has issued a ₹48 lakh tender to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for an integrated development plan for Perambur. The proposed initiative aims to tackle persistent urban challenges in several lower-income neighbourhoods, including flooding, drinking water shortages, parking constraints, and pollution in the Captain Cotton Canal.
