CM says Delhi set to become premier learning destination

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Bhawan at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi’s (AUD) Karampura campus, unveiling her government’s plan to position Delhi as a premier education destination.

Speaking to students and faculty, Gupta said Delhi cannot develop as an industrial hub due to environmental constraints but has the potential to become a world-class center for learning. “The biggest sector we can work on in Delhi is to make the city an education hub. Students seeking quality education should think of Delhi first. Our system must be so strong that our children do not need to go abroad for higher studies,” she said.

The new four-storey building houses 18 smart classrooms, two seminar halls, five laboratories, and an electric and IT hub, designed to foster innovation and research. The inauguration coincided with the “Sewa Pakhwara” celebrations marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday.

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood highlighted AUD’s outreach, including adoption of seven slum clusters and restoration of 23 hectares of wetland, stressing that investment in education is an investment in the future.

Vice-Chancellor Anu Singh Lather noted that AUD recently hosted the National Inter-University Research Ideation Festival themed “Viksit Delhi @2047,” celebrating student creativity. Winners of the annual research festival “Shodhostav 2025” were felicitated for projects on governance, sustainability, and cultural innovation.The initiative underscores the Delhi government’s commitment to empowering youth and fostering academic excellence as the city charts its course toward 2047.
