CM Revanth Reviews Palamuru Irrigation Works, Orders Faster Land Acquisition

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to speed up the land acquisition process for the crucial Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme , stressing that irrigation works should move ahead without delays.

During a high-level review meeting held at the MCR HRD Institute , the Chief Minister met ministers and legislators from the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district to assess the progress of ongoing irrigation projects. Discussions focused on pending land acquisition issues, funding requirements and measures needed to accelerate construction activity across the region.

Revanth Reddy instructed officials to complete land acquisition on a war footing and ensure that administrative hurdles do not slow down project execution. He also asked authorities to fast-track similar processes for other irrigation projects in the combined Palamuru region, which has historically struggled with drought and water scarcity.

The Chief Minister made it clear that the government would not allow financial constraints to affect irrigation works. He directed departments to release compensation and pending payments related to land acquisition without delay and assured that the state was ready to clear outstanding bills to maintain project momentum.

Highlighting the importance of close monitoring, Revanth Reddy asked district ministers to conduct regular reviews with local officials and closely track the pace of ongoing works. He said the government’s priority was to complete public irrigation infrastructure quickly so that farmers receive water benefits at the earliest.

The Palamuru–Rangareddy project is regarded as one of Telangana’s most significant irrigation initiatives, aimed at bringing irrigation facilities to vast drought-prone areas in southern Telangana while also supporting drinking water and industrial needs.

The meeting was attended by ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Vakiti Srihari , along with legislators, senior irrigation officials and Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao . Several key decisions related to project execution and land acquisition were taken during the review.
