CM Revanth reviews development plans for Osmania University, prioritizes student and staff feedback

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday conducted a high-level review of development plans for Osmania University, emphasizing the importance of incorporating feedback from students and faculty. He assured that the government would not hesitate to allocate any necessary funds for the university’s development.

During the meeting, officials presented detailed proposals, followed by PowerPoint presentations outlining various development projects. The Chief Minister suggested several modifications related to hostel buildings, roads, academic blocks, and the university auditorium. He also recommended exploring the use of urban forestry funds for projects in the university’s forested areas and stressed the need to conserve existing water resources while identifying opportunities for new water management systems.

On construction plans for hostels and academic buildings, the CM advised ensuring accommodations for an additional 10% of students beyond current capacity. He emphasized that all facilities should be built to prevent any inconvenience to students and staff in the future.

Revanth Reddy also directed the preservation of historically and culturally significant buildings while prioritizing new constructions over costly renovations of old structures without historical importance. He encouraged attention to details such as cycling tracks, walking paths, and installing symbols reflecting the spirit of student activism on campus.

The Chief Minister announced that he will personally visit Osmania University on December 10, focusing on academic blocks and hostels. He urged that development plans be presented to students and faculty for their opinions, suggesting the establishment of drop boxes and a dedicated website to collect feedback. He instructed that final decisions on development plans be made by the end of this month, ensuring that student and staff input is given priority.

The review meeting was attended by the CM’s advisors, state government officials, Osmania University Vice-Chancellor, the principal of the Arts College, and other dignitaries.
