Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has triggered a political storm with his remarks during the Kerala Assembly elections , stating that a vote for the LDF would ultimately benefit Prime Minister Narendra Modi . Campaigning in Nemom for UDF candidate K. S. Sabarinathan , he urged voters to take a “wise decision” for the state’s future, emphasizing that only a UDF government could ensure industrial growth , attract investment , and generate employment for the youth. His comments align with the Congress’s broader narrative in Kerala, where leaders have alleged that the Left’s political positioning indirectly strengthens the BJP at the national level.

The remarks have sparked sharp reactions in Telangana, with the BJP accusing the Congress of double standards . State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao criticized the party for maintaining ties with Left parties in Telangana while opposing them in Kerala, calling it a case of “friendship here, fight there.” He argued that such contradictory alliances expose the Congress’s opportunistic politics and weaken its credibility among voters.

The controversy has also created friction within the opposition camp, with the CPI expressing strong objections.
