Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that the state government will ensure appropriate recognition for legendary Telangana armed peasant struggle leader and Padma Vibhushan awardee Ravi Narayana Reddy . He made the remarks while addressing a programme organised by the Telangana Amaraveerula Smaraka Trust at the Ravi Narayana Reddy Auditorium in Hyderabad.

During the event, the Chief Minister presented the 2025 Ravi Narayana Reddy Memorial National Award to former Supreme Court judge B. Sudarshan Reddy . Praising Justice Sudarshan Reddy, the CM said that honouring a person of such integrity and commitment is a matter of pride for Telangana society.

Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy described Ravi Narayana Reddy as a towering figure who fought for land rights, food security, and the liberation of bonded labourers . He assured that Telangana would accord him the dignity and respect he deserves. The Chief Minister recalled Reddy’s vital role in the historic armed peasant struggle against oppressive forces. Despite being born into a landlord family, Ravi Narayana Reddy donated nearly 500 acres of land for the welfare of the poor, earning a permanent place in history as a humanitarian and reformer.

He was also remembered as a mass leader who inspired social awakening across Telangana, mobilising even the illiterate sections of society into the movement. The CM highlighted that Ravi Narayana Reddy was elected to Parliament with a majority reportedly greater than that of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru , reflecting immense public support. He further noted that Reddy voluntarily stepped away from party posts and political power at the age of 60, setting an example of principled public life.

The Chief Minister stated that after the upcoming municipal elections, the government would take concrete steps to honour Ravi Narayana Reddy appropriately. He also commended Justice Sudarshan Reddy’s contribution during the process of Telangana state formation.

Trust president Chada Venkat Reddy, secretary Kandimalla Pratap Reddy, public representatives, and several prominent personalities attended the programme.
