CM Revanth Reddy Urges Uber to Explore Multi-Level Parking Projects in Hyderabad
Telangana’s push to transform Hyderabad into a global innovation and mobility hub received a boost after senior executives of Uber held key discussions with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on expanding the company’s presence in the state and partnering in urban infrastructure initiatives.
A delegation led by Dara Khosrowshahi met the Chief Minister at his Jubilee Hills residence on Wednesday, where discussions centred around urban mobility challenges, investment opportunities, smart infrastructure, and future technology expansion in Hyderabad.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy highlighted the growing parking crisis in Hyderabad, especially around metro stations and commercial corridors. Stressing that inadequate parking facilities are becoming a serious urban issue, the Chief Minister urged Uber to explore the development of multi-level parking centres in the city.
He suggested that these facilities could be integrated with electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure , which would support Telangana’s long-term clean mobility goals while easing traffic congestion in densely populated areas. Uber representatives reportedly responded positively and agreed to conduct a detailed feasibility study on the proposal.
The Chief Minister also briefed the delegation about the ambitious “Bharat Future City” project being developed across nearly 30,000 acres near Hyderabad’s international airport. The state government aims to position the mega project as a world-class economic and innovation hub capable of attracting major multinational companies and technology firms.
Impressed by the scale and long-term vision of the project, Khosrowshahi expressed interest in establishing an Uber corporate office within the proposed Future City ecosystem. Officials said the project’s strategic location near the airport and upcoming infrastructure corridors makes it highly attractive for global businesses.
Uber executives also confirmed plans to further expand the company’s Hyderabad-based Center of Excellence , which is currently Uber’s first such facility outside the United States. The centre presently employs nearly 600 engineers working on global mobility and technology solutions.
Senior executives, including Uber India & South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh and Chief Business Officer Madhu Kannan, attended the meeting along with Telangana government officials.
Industry observers believe collaborations between governments and global mobility firms could significantly accelerate Hyderabad’s ambitions of becoming a leading smart mobility and technology-driven urban centre in India.
