CM Revanth Reddy Pushes to Fast-Track MGBS - Chandrayangutta Metro Works

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to fast-track the proposed Old City Metro corridor, with a focus on clearing pending land acquisition and starting the tendering process without delay.

The Chief Minister issued the directions during a review meeting with senior officials of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), where he assessed the progress of metro expansion plans, rising passenger demand and the city’s transport infrastructure requirements.

Under Metro Phase-II, the proposed MGBS–Chandrayangutta corridor will span 7.5 km. Revanth Reddy asked officials to take all necessary steps to complete the corridor at the earliest and instructed them to begin the tender process immediately.

He also stressed the need to accelerate pending land acquisition so that construction activity does not face hurdles. Officials were asked to resolve outstanding issues and ensure that the project progresses smoothly once the execution phase begins.

With passenger traffic on Hyderabad Metro increasing steadily, the Chief Minister also called for additional coaches to be introduced to strengthen carrying capacity. He directed officials to initiate the procurement process for the required coaches.

For the MGBS–Chandrayangutta stretch, Revanth Reddy further suggested consultations with Delhi Metro officials to explore the latest technologies and obtain technical expertise that could be incorporated into the project.

In a separate review, the Chief Minister directed officials to accelerate preparations for the Invest Telangana Global Summit, scheduled to be held in December as part of the state's efforts to attract more investments.

He called for the summit to be organised to international standards, with comprehensive planning for investor engagement and sector-specific initiatives. Officials were also asked to prepare an action plan to honour prominent personalities who have made significant contributions to different sectors of the business community.

Revanth Reddy sought a detailed report on investments attracted through last year's Global Summit, including the progress of projects linked to those commitments. He also called for fresh strategies to build on the momentum and secure further investments for Telangana.

The meetings were attended by Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, advisers Ramakrishna Rao and NVS Reddy, Metro Rail MD Sarfaraz Ahmed, Additional MD Ajit Reddy and other senior officials.
