CM Revanth Reddy Orders Swift Probe Into Case Against Bandi Bhagirath
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed that a prompt investigation be initiated into the case registered against Bandi Bhagirath , son of Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar , at the Pet Basheerabad Police Station. He also expressed strong dissatisfaction over the delay in taking up the probe.
The Chief Minister questioned Director General of Police CV Anand over why action was delayed even though a complaint was received on May 8 . He reportedly asked why proceedings against the accused were not initiated in a timely manner.
Responding to the Chief Minister, DGP CV Anand stated that police forces had been fully engaged in security arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad over the past two days , which led to some delay in the investigation. He briefed the Chief Minister on the details of the case.
The Chief Minister has instructed that special teams be immediately constituted to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter. He emphasised that there should be no compromise in the inquiry process and directed that a detailed report be submitted at the earliest. With these instructions, the investigation is expected to gain momentum.
According to police sources, the case was registered on May 8 at Pet Basheerabad Police Station under Sections 11 and 12 of the POCSO Act and Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) . The complaint was lodged by the mother of a minor girl, alleging that Bhagirath had been harassing her daughter .
Meanwhile, Bandi Bhagirath has also filed a counter-complaint at Two Town Police Station, Karimnagar , alleging that the girl and her parents had been pressuring and threatening him for money .
The case is now under active scrutiny, and the government’s intervention is expected to accelerate the investigation process.
