CM Revanth Reddy Orders Research Centre at Young India Skill University

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to establish a dedicated Research Centre at the Young India Skill University to promote innovation, research and industry-driven skill development. The proposal was discussed during a review meeting on Friday with Skill, Human Capital and Knowledge Training Initiatives (SHKTI) Minister Vivek Venkataswamy and senior officials.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to create a Foreign Languages Department at the university to improve the global employability of students. The department will offer training in German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Russian, enabling young people to compete for overseas job opportunities. He said both local experts and qualified instructors from the respective countries should be engaged for language training.

To safeguard job seekers from fraudulent recruitment agents, Revanth Reddy stressed the need to strengthen the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM). He announced that a former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer would be appointed as the organisation's Chief Executive Officer. TOMCOM has also been asked to establish direct partnerships with international manpower agencies, maintain a database of candidates travelling abroad for employment, and facilitate services such as passport assistance and LMV/HMV driving training.

The Chief Minister further suggested studying the feasibility of extending scholarships to candidates undergoing training for blue-collar jobs overseas, similar to the overseas scholarships currently provided for higher education.

In another major decision, government engineering, ITI and polytechnic students will be provided internship opportunities with leading companies, allowing them to gain practical industry experience while earning stipends. He also directed officials to introduce Electric Vehicle (EV) servicing and drone technology courses at the Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) established by upgrading ITIs.

Recognising the growing international demand for healthcare professionals, Revanth Reddy said the state government would permit more nursing colleges to meet the increasing need for qualified nurses abroad.

The meeting also noted the rapid progress of Young India Skill University, whose Board of Governors is chaired by industrialist Anand Mahindra, as the institution continues to expand its academic and skill development initiatives.
