CM Revanth Reddy Offers Bonam at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple During Grand Bonalu Celebrations

The annual Bonalu festival, one of Telangana's most significant religious celebrations, was observed with great devotion at the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad on Sunday. Thousands of devotees thronged the temple from the early hours to offer prayers and participate in the traditional rituals associated with the Ashada month festivities.

The temple premises witnessed a vibrant spiritual atmosphere as devotees, accompanied by traditional music and devotional chants, gathered in large numbers to seek the blessings of Goddess Mahankali.

On the occasion, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy visited the temple and offered special prayers for the prosperity, peace and well-being of the people of the state. On behalf of the state government, he presented the traditional Bonam and silk robes to the presiding deity.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Konda Surekha and Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), who also participated in the temple rituals.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar also visited the shrine and performed special prayers. Meanwhile, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) arrived at the temple along with party leaders to seek the blessings of Goddess Mahankali.

Extending greetings on the festival, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy said the colourful processions featuring decorated pots and traditional offerings reflect Telangana's rich cultural heritage. In a message posted on X, he wished the people of the state good health, peace and prosperity with the blessings of the Goddess.

The Bonalu celebrations also showcased the traditional ritual of women carrying beautifully decorated Bonam pots filled with cooked rice, jaggery and milk, adorned with neem leaves, turmeric and vermilion, before offering them to the deity. Devotees also presented bangles and silk garments as part of the customary offerings.

With massive crowds expected throughout the celebrations, the Hyderabad City Police introduced an AI-based crowd management system for the first time to monitor pilgrim movement and enhance security arrangements. City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar personally reviewed the functioning of the system at the Mahankali Police Station and issued directions to officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival.
