CM Revanth Launches ‘Stand With Her’, Calls Men Brand Ambassadors for Women’s Safety

Calling for a shift in societal attitudes toward women’s safety, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday urged men to take responsibility and act as brand ambassadors for women’s safety . He made the remarks while launching the “Stand With Her” campaign , an initiative of the Telangana Police Women Safety Wing , at the JNTU auditorium in Hyderabad on the occasion of International Women’s Day .

Unveiling the campaign brochure, the Chief Minister said ensuring women’s safety cannot be left solely to the police. Instead, it requires active participation from society, particularly from men and young people. He encouraged students to develop the courage to question harassment and stand up against inappropriate behaviour whenever they witness it.

Revanth Reddy stressed that ignoring harassment is as harmful as encouraging it. Society must react to such incidents with the same seriousness as it would if the victim were a member of one’s own family. While women are often celebrated as symbols of strength and honour within families, he noted that many still feel unsafe while stepping out for education, work, or daily activities. Changing this reality, he said, requires a transformation in social thinking and behaviour.

Highlighting the state government’s commitment to women’s empowerment , the Chief Minister pointed out that women currently head several key departments in the Telangana administration and police force . According to him, genuine development of a state or nation is possible only when women are socially respected and economically empowered.

Revanth Reddy also outlined initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s financial independence. Houses under the Indiramma housing scheme are being sanctioned in women’s names, while interest-free loans and livelihood opportunities are being extended to support their economic progress. The government is also encouraging women to participate in emerging sectors such as solar power generation and public transport operations .

The Chief Minister further expressed concern over the rising threat of cyber crimes and deepfake videos , which increasingly target women. To address these challenges, the state has strengthened its cyber crime units and digital monitoring systems.

He also urged society to move away from the culture of victim-blaming and instead create an environment where women feel confident to report crimes and seek help. The message of the “Stand With Her” campaign, he said, is simple yet powerful — society must stand with women and support them whenever they face harassment or injustice.

The programme was attended by former advisor Vem Narender Reddy , DGP Shivadhar Reddy , actor Sai Dharam Tej , and a large number of students who pledged support for the campaign.
