CM Revanth launches 65 advanced tech centers for youth

Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Anumula, has urged the youth of the state to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government to shape their future. He announced that a special government department will be established to facilitate job and employment opportunities for skilled youth, including opportunities abroad.

In a major step towards modernizing technical education, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated 65 Advanced Technology Centers (ATCs) across Telangana from an event held at the Mallepalli ITI (Industrial Training Institute) Center. These centers aim to transform existing ITIs into hubs of advanced technological knowledge and skill development.

During the event, CM Revanth, along with ministers including IT Minister Sridhar Babu, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, I&PR Minister Ponguleti Srinivas, and Vem Narender Reddy, visited the Mallepalli ATC, which has been developed with modern technology and infrastructure. He emphasized that these centers would provide youth with the technical expertise required to succeed in a competitive job market.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s focus on youth skill development. “We will provide a stipend of Rs. 2,000 per month to every student studying in ATCs. From the next academic year, it will be the government’s responsibility to provide this stipend. This is not an expense but an investment in the future,” he said. He further mentioned that a special government department would provide job opportunities, passports, and other services to help students plan for their careers.

CM Revanth encouraged students trained in ATCs to contribute to the reconstruction and development of Telangana. “By 2047, you must help make Telangana a 3-trillion-dollar economic powerhouse. We aim to impart technical skills to youth to achieve this goal,” he added.

The Chief Minister also reflected on the history of ITIs in Telangana, noting that although these institutions were started in 1956 and gradually increased to 65, previous governments neglected them. “ITIs operated in an outdated manner and were irrelevant to the changing times. Our goal is to modernize them and provide training in advanced technologies,” he said.

The government collaborated with Tata Technologies to develop the ATCs. While the state invested Rs. 300 crores to transform 65 ITIs into ATCs, Tata Technologies contributed Rs. 2,100 crores for their development. CM Revanth stressed that success requires ideas and sincerity more than money, and with determination, nothing is impossible.

Looking ahead, the Chief Minister announced that 51 more ATCs would start in the next academic year, bringing the total to 116 centers. These centers will provide youth with better training and employment opportunities. He also mentioned that arrangements would be made to offer apprenticeships (on-the-job training to learn a skill) similar to the ones ITI students previously had with RTC.

CM Revanth highlighted the importance of skill development, noting that 1.1 lakh students graduate in engineering every year, but many do not secure jobs due to a lack of practical skills. “Degrees alone are not enough. Technical skills open up job opportunities, including internationally in countries like South Korea, Germany, Japan, and Russia. Youth should focus on acquiring skills, not just studying IT,” he said.

The Chief Minister emphasized the role of education in reducing inequality and shaping one’s destiny. “Education and technical skills are the keys to respect and success. This government will provide opportunities and facilities for students to study and excel,” he said.

The inauguration event was attended by MPs Anil Kumar Yadav, Mallu Ravi, MLCs, MLAs, Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi, senior officials, Tata Technologies representatives, and ATC students. Public representatives and students from ATCs across the state also participated through video conferencing. Minister Vivek Venkatswamy, who was on a foreign tour, sent his message via video.

With these initiatives, CM Revanth aims to equip Telangana’s youth with the skills and opportunities necessary to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development and global competitiveness.
