With temperatures soaring across Telangana and heatwave conditions intensifying, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to take immediate preventive measures to protect public health and ensure uninterrupted essential services across the state.

Following fresh warnings from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) , the Chief Minister reviewed the situation and instructed district administrations, particularly in north Telangana , to stay fully prepared for the coming days as temperatures are expected to rise further.

Officials have been asked to closely monitor vulnerable regions where extreme heat has already pushed temperatures close to 46 degrees Celsius . According to official data, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at 45.9°C in Ailapur of Jagtial district , while Kattangur in Nalgonda and Dasturabad in Nirmal district registered 45.8°C each. Several other districts also reported temperatures well above the 40-degree mark.

Concerned over the growing risk of heatstroke, dehydration, and other heat-related illnesses , Revanth Reddy instructed all government hospitals, from Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to district medical facilities, to remain on high alert. Authorities were told to ensure the availability of emergency medicines, medical staff, beds, and sufficient stocks of ORS packets for immediate treatment.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of uninterrupted drinking water and electricity supply , especially during peak daytime hours when heat conditions become severe. Municipal authorities were directed to establish cooling shelters and drinking water kiosks in busy urban areas to provide relief to the public.

As part of the state’s precautionary measures, citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during the afternoon. Special caution has been urged for children, elderly citizens, outdoor workers, and daily wage labourers who are most vulnerable to the harsh weather conditions.

Revanth Reddy further instructed Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to continuously review the evolving situation and coordinate with district collectors to ensure swift response measures wherever needed.

Meanwhile, weather officials have forecast that the heatwave is likely to continue over the next two days, although isolated thunderstorms in some parts of the state may offer temporary relief later this week.
