CM Revanth condemns cases against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, calls them a distraction from ‘Vote Theft’ issues

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has strongly criticized the NDA government at the center for recently filing new cases against Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. Speaking at an official Congress party meeting at Gandhi Bhavan in Telangana, he said these cases were aimed at diverting public attention from ongoing allegations of “vote theft” and electoral irregularities.

Revanth Reddy clarified that his party has no fear regarding the National Herald case. He explained that Congress had supported the newspaper after its closure to provide financial assistance to its staff and journalists who had not received retirement benefits. According to him, the recent legal actions against the Gandhi family are unlawful and politically motivated, particularly to prevent discussions about lapses in Bihar elections.

The CM emphasized that Congress workers in Telangana strongly oppose these cases. “Rahul Gandhi has been highlighting the issue of vote theft across the country. Instead of discussing it in Parliament, new cases were filed against him and Sonia Gandhi just a few days ago to shift public attention,” he said.

Revanth Reddy also praised the sacrifices of the Gandhi family for the country and stated that Telangana citizens strongly oppose the case. The party decided to send a resolution expressing this stance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the meeting, the CM outlined key development plans for the state. He announced that he would visit Osmania University on December 7 and promised to allocate funds to transform it into a world-class institution. On December 8 and 9, Telangana will host the “Telangana Global Rising Summit” at Future City, where the Telangana-2047 policy document, prepared with guidance from experts, will be released. Revanth Reddy set a goal to make Telangana a trillion-dollar economy by 2034.

For Hyderabad’s urban growth, the CM announced several major initiatives: relocating polluting industries outside the Outer Ring Road, cleaning the Musi River, and prioritizing metro rail expansion. The government will reclaim unused industrial land in key city areas. Revanth Reddy stressed that these steps are aimed at both development and public welfare.

He also criticized the previous BRS government for failing to bring a single airport to the state, claiming that his administration has successfully established four. He reiterated plans to empower one million women economically and pledged to complete saree distribution to them by March 2026. District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents were warned to address any complaints related to this scheme seriously.

AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan emphasized that new DCC presidents were selected based on impartial field reports. She instructed that DCCs should be fully prepared for upcoming local elections, adhere to BC reservation rules, and coordinate with previous committees. Training sessions for new DCC members are scheduled for January.

TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud added that CM’s district visits will increase ahead of local elections. He also highlighted that the Congress government has already attracted investments worth ₹1.80 lakh crore and is efficiently implementing six key guarantees, while criticizing former CM K. Chandrashekhar Rao for leaving the state burdened with massive debt.
