CM Revanth and Minister Kishan Reddy pay tribute to former PM P.V. Narasimha Rao

On the 21st death anniversary of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, along with several other political leaders, paid their respects on Tuesday. The leaders laid floral tributes at the ‘PV Gyanabhumi’ memorial at Hussain Sagar. Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay, along with others, also participated in the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kishan Reddy highlighted Narasimha Rao’s visionary decisions as Prime Minister, which laid the foundation for India’s key role in the global economy today. He recalled how Narasimha Rao initiated critical economic reforms during a time of severe financial crisis, setting the stage for India’s liberalization.

Kishan Reddy also remarked that Narasimha Rao deserves recognition for handling the Ayodhya Ram Mandir issue with legality and restraint. Despite pressures to suppress the movement, Narasimha Rao chose to act within the legal framework. He expressed regret that Narasimha Rao, despite his immense service to the Congress party, was not allowed to be physically present at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in Delhi during his final days.

Criticizing the decline in political decorum in Telangana, Kishan Reddy urged leaders across parties to take inspiration from Narasimha Rao’s disciplined and respectful style of politics.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, in a social media post, described Narasimha Rao as “a son of the soil and a source of pride for the entire nation.” BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao also paid tribute online, calling Narasimha Rao a polyglot statesman whose services remain “forever memorable.”

Serving as Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996, P.V. Narasimha Rao is widely remembered as the architect of India’s economic reforms and liberalization, leaving an enduring legacy in the country’s history.
