CM Chandrababu Naidu Orders Statewide Implementation of ‘Sanjeevani’

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to expand the ‘Sanjeevani’ project , launched to record and monitor citizens’ health details, across the entire state.

Speaking at a review meeting on the Health Department at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister announced that the Sanjeevani project , currently being implemented as a pilot in Chittoor district , will now be rolled out statewide. He said the initiative is aimed at digitising public health records , under which health check-ups will be conducted for 7.273 million people .

The Chief Minister also stressed that every Assembly constituency should have at least one super-speciality hospital . He directed officials to immediately initiate steps for the construction of multi-speciality hospitals in constituencies. The government, he said, will provide incentives and concessions to reputed hospital managements and non-profit organisations willing to establish hospitals in the state.

The proposed Sanjeevani project primarily focuses on the digitalisation of citizens’ health data . On the lines of the ABHA cards provided by the Central government, the state government will create a digital health profile for every citizen, storing details of past illnesses and treatments online. Similar initiatives such as ‘Health Profile’ in Telangana and ‘Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam’ in Tamil Nadu also aim to collect health data through door-to-door medical examinations.

Under the scheme, the government plans to conduct comprehensive health screenings for 7.273 million people . These will include basic tests such as blood pressure and diabetes , along with critical blood investigations, all of which will be uploaded to digital medical records . This system will enable doctors to access a patient’s medical history instantly during emergencies, even if previous reports are not available, thereby ensuring timely and accurate treatment .

Another key component of the initiative is the establishment of one super-speciality or multi-speciality hospital in each constituency . While advanced corporate healthcare is usually confined to major cities, this decision is expected to bring modern medical facilities closer to rural and backward regions. By offering concessions to reputed and non-profit healthcare institutions, the government aims to significantly strengthen healthcare infrastructure at the constituency level.
