
CM Chandrababu Congratulates AP Athletes for Medal-Winning Performance at Asian Games
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu congratulated the athletes from Andhra Pradesh who delivered outstanding performances at the 2026 Asian Games and brought recognition to the state on the international stage.
The medal winners called on the Chief Minister at the State Secretariat in Amaravati on Wednesday. During the meeting, Chandrababu reviewed their performances and congratulated them for their achievements at the prestigious continental sporting event. He appreciated their efforts in representing the country and the state and said their success had brought pride to Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said performances by athletes on international platforms play an important role in enhancing the reputation of both the state and the country. He encouraged the sportspersons to maintain the same determination and work towards achieving greater success in future competitions.
Those who met the Chief Minister included Sri Charani, Ganesh Maniratnam, Dheeraj Bommadevara and Vennam Jyothi Surekha. The athletes shared details of their performances and achievements during the interaction.
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Managing Director Bharani briefed the Chief Minister on the overall performance of athletes from the state at the 2026 Asian Games. According to the details presented, Andhra Pradesh secured eight medals across three sporting disciplines.
The state’s medal tally comprised three gold, two silver and three bronze medals, reflecting a strong showing by its athletes at the international event. The achievement was highlighted as an encouraging sign for the state’s sporting ecosystem and its efforts to nurture talent.
Chandrababu said the government would continue to provide full support to athletes who aspire to compete at national and international levels. He stressed that sustained encouragement and better facilities were essential to help promising sportspersons realise their potential.
The Chief Minister assured that the government would take steps to strengthen sports infrastructure and facilities across the state. He said athletes should be provided with the necessary support and training environment to perform at the highest level.
Chandrababu expressed confidence that continued investment in sports and encouragement for emerging talent would help Andhra Pradesh produce more successful athletes and increase its medal tally in future international competitions.
