CM Chandrababu Clears 12th PRC, Announces Major Relief Measures For AP Employees

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved a series of measures aimed at addressing the long-pending financial and service-related concerns of government employees and pensioners, including the formation of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC).

The decision is expected to provide a structured mechanism for reviewing pay and service conditions of government employees. The new PRC will impose an estimated additional annual burden of Rs 2,880 crore on the state exchequer.

Responding to demands from employee associations, the government has also decided to clear two pending instalments of Dearness Allowance (DA). The DA due from July 1, 2024, and January 1, 2025, will be paid to employees from October 1, 2026.

Another major decision concerns surrender leave benefits. The government has announced that the surrender leave amount for 2022 will be credited to employees’ accounts by the upcoming Sankranti festival. Police personnel will receive the benefit of one additional surrender leave, which is proposed to be extended during the forthcoming Dussehra period.

The government has also announced enhanced pension benefits for senior pensioners. From January 2027, pensioners above 70 years will receive an additional 10% pension, while those aged above 75 years will be eligible for an additional 15%.

The Chief Minister further directed officials to strengthen implementation of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) and ensure that beneficiaries do not face difficulties in accessing medical services. From October, the government plans to make monthly payments to the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, with the objective of improving the delivery of healthcare services to employees and pensioners.

Naidu said government employees are an important part of the administrative machinery and stressed that their welfare and legitimate concerns would receive continued attention from the government.

Taken together, the measures mark a significant financial commitment by the state towards employee welfare, pending dues, pension support and healthcare, with the government estimating the recurring additional expenditure at around Rs 2,880 crore annually.
