CM Bhagwant Singh Mann launches Mission Pragati to train Punjab youth

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on 11 January 2026 launched Mission Pragati , a state initiative offering free academic and physical training to youth preparing for competitive examinations. The programme targets rural and meritorious students who cannot afford costly coaching , aiming to increase their representation in government services.

The first batch began at the district library in Bathinda , with 40 students enrolled for exams including the Services Selection Board (SSB), police, and armed forces . Students receive free access to books and study materials, classroom coaching, and physical training led by Punjab Police and C‑PYTE fitness experts .

Academic sessions cover mathematics, reasoning, general studies, current affairs, and English, supported by mock tests, performance tracking, and mentorship from candidates experienced in competitive exams . Mentors receive a monthly stipend, combining peer support with structured guidance.

Mann highlighted the “youth helping youth” model and said, “This initiative is based on the principle of ‘no one left behind’ and reflects our commitment to empowering youth, providing equal opportunities and increasing their representation in government services.” The programme uses existing library infrastructure , keeping costs minimal, with plans to expand to other districts like SBS Nagar .

Unlike earlier schemes such as PACE, Mission Pragati combines academic and physical preparation, mentorship, and locally anchored training, focusing specifically on government service exams.
