CJP Protest Continues at Jantar Mantar After Parliament March Clash, Wangchuk’s Health Stable

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest continued at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Tuesday, a day after a planned march towards Parliament triggered clashes between protesters and police. Hundreds of demonstrators returned to the protest site and vowed to continue their agitation, even as the movement temporarily put further Parliament marches on hold.

The confrontation on Monday resulted in injuries on both sides. Police said 118 personnel and 60 protesters were injured, while other reports put the overall number of injured people at more than 170. Police also detained around 70 people during the crackdown. The CJP has accused security personnel of using excessive force, while police have alleged that some protesters breached barricades and engaged in stone-pelting and vandalism.

The Delhi Police has registered multiple FIRs in connection with the violence, including cases related to alleged rioting, damage to public property and clashes with security personnel. More cases could follow as the investigation continues. The detention of several protesters has also triggered concern among families who said they initially struggled to establish contact with those taken into custody.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke remained at the centre of the protest on Tuesday and criticised the government's engagement with the movement. Dipke said talks involving senior BJP leader J.P. Nadda had consumed the protesters' time without addressing their core demands. The meeting was the first significant direct engagement between the government and CJP representatives, but it failed to end the standoff.

The protest movement has demanded accountability over alleged examination irregularities and paper leaks, along with the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The agitation has increasingly become a broader youth-led campaign against what protesters describe as repeated failures in India's public examination system.

Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk's health remains a key concern for protesters. Wangchuk, who had been on a prolonged hunger strike in support of the agitation, was shifted from the protest site to hospital after his health condition deteriorated. The latest medical update said he is stable but requires continuous monitoring and treatment following the extended fast. His hospitalization has added urgency to the protesters' demands and intensified scrutiny of the government's handling of the agitation.
