CJI Surya Kant inaugurates national conference of HC chief justices in Bhopal
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Saturday inaugurated a two-day national conference of chief justices of high courts at the National Judicial Academy in Bhopal, focusing on digital innovation and efforts to remove linguistic and geographic barriers in access to justice.
The conference brings together chief justices from 25 high courts and is themed ‘Unified, Efficient, and People-centric Judiciary’ . The summit aims to build a modern, uniform and accessible judicial system through coordinated institutional reforms, according to a statement.
The discussions are centred on transforming the Indian judiciary through visionary leadership , deliberations on a proposed National Judicial Policy , and the adoption of strategic, data-driven judicial governance to streamline court administration and improve efficiency.
Key focus areas also include the integration of advanced technology to strengthen alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, reduce delays, and ensure that the justice delivery system evolves beyond traditional constraints.
Guided by CJI Surya Kant and senior Supreme Court judges, the participating chief justices are deliberating on creating a more equitable and citizen-centric judicial framework by leveraging digital tools and innovation.
While similar in purpose to earlier conferences of chief justices, the current meet is positioned as a high-level judicial summit on reform and collaboration , rather than part of the traditional numbered sequence of such conferences.
The 39th Conference of Chief Justices of High Courts was last held in 2022 , chaired by then Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana , at the Supreme Court premises in New Delhi .
