CJI Surya Kant Announces ‘One Case One Data’ Initiative, Launches AI Chatbot ‘Su Sahay’
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Monday announced a major digital reform initiative aimed at strengthening judicial data integration and improving public access to court services across the country.
Making the announcement at the start of the day’s proceedings, the CJI said the judiciary is launching the “One Case One Data” initiative , designed to create a unified digital case management system across all levels of the judiciary, including district courts, High Courts and taluka courts .
The initiative seeks to address a long-standing issue in the judicial system where the same case exists in multiple court levels with separately maintained records . While the legal dispute remains the same, each stage trial, appeal, or further appeal generates additional data such as orders, arguments and judgments, often stored in separate databases .
Under the new system, each case will be assigned a single unique digital identity , allowing all related records to be linked in one continuous case file . When a case moves from a lower court to a higher court, existing records will not be recreated but will be seamlessly integrated and updated , ensuring continuity and easier access to complete case history.
The CJI said the initiative will help build an efficient and interconnected judicial database , improving transparency, reducing duplication of work and enhancing case tracking for courts, lawyers and litigants.
Alongside this, the CJI also launched “Su Sahay” , an AI-powered chatbot integrated into the Supreme Court website. Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in collaboration with the Supreme Court Registry, the chatbot is designed to provide simple guidance and assistance to citizens accessing court services.
He said the tool will act as a front-end support system , helping users understand procedures and access essential judicial services more easily.
The CJI appreciated the efforts of the Registry and technical teams, expressing confidence that both initiatives will significantly improve judicial efficiency and public accessibility .
