Civil Services Day is observed every year on April 21 to commemorate the day in 1947 when Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel , India’s first Home Minister, addressed probationary officers in New Delhi. He referred to civil servants as the “steel frame of India,” recognizing their indispensable role in holding the nation’s administrative structure together. The day is now observed to encourage civil servants to rededicate themselves to public service, efficiency, and integrity in governance.
