Civil Aviation Ministry clears 31,000 sq ft, achieves 87% grievance redressal

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has made significant strides in its ongoing Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM) 5.0, freeing nearly 31,353 square feet of office space by clearing out scrap, electronic waste, an d redundant files.

As part of this drive, the ministry has weeded out 4,988 old physical files , while generating ₹81.66 lakh in revenue from the sale of scrap items. Officials emphasised that the disposal process was carefully managed to ensure no important or active documents were lost , with obsolete files being reviewed before removal or digitisation.

The campaign has also recorded 405 cleanliness drives so far against a target of 480, and the ministry has already achieved 87% of its public grievance redressal target , reflecting improved responsiveness and office efficiency.

Launched on October 2 and continuing until October 31 , the campaign is more than a simple clean-up. It aims to foster a clutter-free and positive workplace, physically, digitally, and mentally . By reducing paper dependency, optimising office space, and promoting sustainable disposal of e-waste, the ministry is aligning itself with broader government initiatives for digital governance and green administration .

Officials noted that the initiative also streamlines decision-making by making essential files easier to access digitally and clearing unnecessary physical clutter. As Special Campaign 5.0 progresses, the Civil Aviation Ministry is positioning itself as a model for efficiency, sustainability, and modern workspace management , demonstrating how routine administrative drives can have long-term operational and environmental benefits.
