Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Day 3 Box Office: Rs 73 Crore India Gross, Rs 2,270 Crore Worldwide

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has turned into a box office phenomenon, rewriting record books both in India and across the globe. The epic action adventure has collected an impressive Rs 73.19 crore gross in India within just three days, while its worldwide opening weekend has soared to around Rs 2,270 crore (USD 264.1 million), making it Nolan's biggest global opening of all time.

The film opened with Rs 20.76 crore gross on Friday before witnessing a massive jump over the weekend. Strong Saturday and Sunday collections pushed the three day India gross to Rs 73.19 crore, with the India net collection estimated at Rs 61.30 crore. The film has comfortably surpassed the opening weekends of Oppenheimer, Interstellar, The Dark Knight Rises, and every previous Christopher Nolan release in the country.

One of the biggest reasons behind the film's phenomenal run has been its overwhelming response in IMAX and Premium Large Format screens. Shot entirely using IMAX cameras, The Odyssey has become a must watch theatrical event, with sold out shows reported across Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and several other major cities. The English version alone is closing in on the Rs 50 crore gross milestone, while dubbed versions in Indian languages have also attracted strong footfalls.

Adding to the excitement, audiences and critics have praised the film's breathtaking visuals, large scale action, emotional storytelling and Hans Zimmer's powerful background score. Despite its lengthy runtime and Adults Only certification in India, positive word of mouth has kept occupancy levels exceptionally strong throughout the weekend.

On the global front, The Odyssey has achieved a sensational USD 264.1 million (approximately Rs 2,270 crore) opening weekend, including USD 124.5 million (around Rs 1,070 crore) from North America and USD 139.6 million (around Rs 1,200 crore) from overseas markets. IMAX alone contributed a record breaking USD 81.4 million (around Rs 700 crore) globally, underlining the film's massive appeal on premium screens.

With weekday advance bookings remaining strong and no major Hollywood competition arriving immediately, trade experts believe The Odyssey is well on course to enter the Rs 100 crore gross club in India, while its worldwide box office is expected to climb significantly in the coming weeks.
