Christopher Nolan takes over as DGA President

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, known for blockbusters such as Oppenheimer , Inception , and The Dark Knight Trilogy , has been elected President of the Directors Guild of America (DGA). The appointment marks a rare instance where one of Hollywood’s most commercially successful directors assumes leadership of the influential union.

Nolan succeeds Lesli Linka Glatter, who completed two terms after first being elected in 2021. During her tenure, Glatter guided the Guild through a transformative period in the industry, advocating for stronger protections for directors and members amid evolving technologies and streaming shifts.

In a statement, Nolan expressed gratitude and determination: “To be elected President of the Directors Guild of America is one of the greatest honors of my career. Our industry is experiencing tremendous change, and I thank the Guild’s membership for entrusting me with this responsibility. The DGA, representing over 19,000 members, plays a central role in negotiating labor contracts, protecting creative rights, and ensuring fair economic practices in Hollywood.
