Chris Pratt Teases Star-Lord’s Next MCU Chapter After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Hollywood actor Chris Pratt has confirmed that Star-Lord will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), revealing that plans for the character’s comeback are already in place, although details about the project and its timeline remain under wraps.

“You’ll see Star-Lord again, which is very exciting, but I’m not at liberty to say when that’s going to be,” Pratt said, fuelling speculation about the beloved Marvel character’s next appearance.

The statement has renewed interest in Star-Lord’s future following the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), which marked an emotional turning point for the superhero team. At the end of the film, Peter Quill, Star-Lord’s real name, returns to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather after years of adventures across the galaxy.

However, the film’s post-credits scene explicitly stated that “the Legendary Star-Lord will return”, signalling that Marvel Studios intended to revisit the character even as the original Guardians team went their separate ways.

Pratt’s latest comments have drawn attention because they suggest that the long-awaited return is moving beyond speculation. In a recent appearance on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, the actor also spoke about ongoing discussions with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and executive Louis D’Esposito regarding Star-Lord’s future.

While Pratt indicated that concrete steps were being taken, he stopped short of identifying a film or series in which the character might appear. Marvel Studios has not announced an official release date or confirmed the project that will bring Star-Lord back.

The timing of the revelation has also reignited fan discussions about the character’s potential role in Marvel’s upcoming projects, particularly as the franchise continues to develop its next phase of superhero stories.

Star-Lord, introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), became one of the MCU’s most recognisable characters through his humour, music-driven adventures and leadership of the intergalactic team. For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Marvel Studios to learn when Peter Quill will return to the screen.
